A chemical engineer’s career can be as lucrative as a medical doctor’s.
But, with some exceptions, most of the salaries offered for this career are paid at a much lower rate than those of a medical officer.
Photo: Supplied The key to getting the most out of a career as an aerostatic engineer is knowing how to market yourself, according to research published today by research consultancy firm Ipsos.
In the past year, the firm has tracked more than 7,000 careers across a wide range of industries.
“There’s a whole range of things that can help you out, so I’m not going to list them all, but they include the way you show off your qualifications, how you approach your job and how you communicate with colleagues,” Ipsos managing director Mark Stroud said.
For example, the company said it would offer an “airborne experience” for those who want to fly commercial cargo or deliver medicine.
“Airborne experience involves a small number of people travelling at a very low altitude and flying a helicopter.
It is not as glamorous as a flight of a helicopter or commercial airliner but it is very high-risk, high-reward,” Mr Stroud explained.

The work involves a large amount of research and often involves the use of laboratory equipment.
Chemists work on chemical compounds to develop new chemicals for use in pharmaceutical, biotechnology and other products.
A biochemist or biophysicist is a scientist who studies the structure and function of biological systems and who is interested in the biological functions of a particular organism.
A chemist is also an engineer.
The roles are often similar to those of chemical engineers, but with a greater emphasis on the use and application of technology.
