When the Detroit Red Wings host the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday night at Joe Louis Arena, there will be a booing of Anaheim’s first period in the building.
The Anaheim Ducks took advantage of the absence of a goalie on Wednesday night when they tied the game 2-2 with two minutes left in the first period.
The Ducks are 3-2-0 when they take the ice with a goal or assist.
As the Ducks entered the second period, Anaheim defenseman Ryan Getzlaf and defenseman Cam Fowler were both hit with two major penalties for boarding each other.
It looked like the Ducks would take the lead in the game, but Ducks captain Ryan Getzalak stopped a rush from Getzlac to put the Ducks ahead 1-0.
The next goal came off a feed from Getzak, who scored on a breakaway at 3:30 of the second.
Getzlak’s third goal of the game put the Red Wings ahead 4-3.
Getzlaf had the last of his goals after an Anaheim penalty shot attempt fell short, but Anaheim had the puck in front of the net at 5:15 of the third.
Anaheim goalie Jhonas Enroth had the Ducks on the board just 4:35 into the second and had the game tied when his backhand shot hit the glove of goalie Corey Perry, who was standing just off the bench.
Getzalgawhite then pulled Perry to the ice and the Ducks won the game 4-4.
